Not all air purifiers are made equally. Air ionizers release negatively charged ions into the air, which attract positively charged ions, such as dust and allergens, and then bind together with them. This makes particles much heavier than they were before. As a result, these over-weighted particles are no longer light enough to stay airborne and drop to the ground. After a while, pollutants that drop to the ground can start floating in the air again when they lose their electrical charge or when the ionizer is not in operation. Philips GP5611 is not an air ionizer, it is an air purifier with a filter and an LED UVC light. Our air purification technology uses proprietary SaniFilter Plus, which has a special antimicrobial layer that stops microbes that pass through it from recirculating in the air you breathe. It also contains a HESA material cartridge that lasts much longer than standard carbon bags and helps remove chemicals and bad odors even when the device is turned off.
Replacement parts include the SaniFilter Plus SNF100 and the HESAMax Cartridge HESA60. The UVC LED has been tested on Sars-CoV-2 (COVID-19 causing virus) in the biotech lab of KR Biotech Co., Ltd. and showed a 99.683, 99.990, and 99.993 virucidal effect for 5, 10, and 30 minutes respectively at a distance of 2cm. The filters have been tested for particle 1-pass removal efficiency at IUTA lab in Germany in 2020 and have been published in the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2008 Microbiological Risk Assessment Report.
